The lake cities don’t shout about their food, which is exactly why the good stuff stays under the radar. Here’s where I send people who’ve figured out there’s more to Corinth, Lake Dallas, and Hickory Creek than the parkway chains. Save this before they get discovered.
The shortlist
May’s Eats Gourmet To Go. A CIA-trained chef doing gourmet takeout in Corinth — restaurant-level cooking you carry home in a bag. The kind of thing you don’t expect to find tucked into a strip center.
Elm Fork Taphouse & Kitchen. Family scratch kitchen out on FM 2181 in Hickory Creek. Everything made in-house, which you taste the second it hits the table.
Genti’s Ristorante Italiano. Family Italian that’s been at it since 1985. Four decades in business isn’t luck — it’s a recipe people keep coming back for.
Maria’s Mexican Restaurant. Fresh tortillas pressed every single day, and a 5.0 on TripAdvisor to back it up. The freshness is the whole point.
La Fondita. Birria with a proper consommé, right on the Corinth line. Order it the messy way — that’s how it’s meant to be eaten.
None of these are on any tourist list. That’s kind of the point.
