The shortlist
Dua Trattoria. Italian-Balkan fusion sitting at 4.7 stars on OpenTable and still somehow flying under the radar. The combination sounds unlikely until you taste why it works.
Manee Thai Cuisine & Bar. Thai and Laotian, run by family brothers — there’s nothing else like it nearby. Ask them what to order and trust the answer.
Dumpling House. Every dumpling folded by hand on-site from family recipes. You can taste the difference between hand-made and frozen in the first bite.
La Parisienne French Bistro. Afternoon tea and croque madames over at The Star. A genuine pause-and-linger spot in a part of town built for speed.
The Heritage Table. James Beard-nominated cooking inside a 1917 historic home in Old Town. The setting alone earns the reservation; the food keeps it.
None of these are on any tourist list. That’s kind of the point.
