The shortlist
Dua Trattoria. Italian with a Mediterranean lean and Balkan family dishes — cevapi, burek — from the brothers behind Eddie’s Napolis. The combination sounds unlikely until you taste why it works.
Manee Thai Cuisine & Bar. Thai and Laotian, run by the Attaphanh family — there’s nothing else like it nearby. Ask them what to order and trust the answer.
Dumpling House. Every dumpling folded by hand on-site — no frozen, as the owner will tell you. The cooked plates run off his parents’ recipes. You taste the difference in the first bite.
La Parisienne French Bistro. Afternoon tea and croque madames over at The Star. A genuine pause-and-linger spot in a part of town built for speed.
The Heritage Table. James Beard semifinalist Rich Vana cooking inside a restored 1917 house on Main. The setting alone earns the reservation; the food keeps it.
None of these are on any tourist list. That’s kind of the point.
